Gary Patton, Director




Gary Patton was born and raised in Hinton, West Virginia and graduated from Hinton High School in 1984. Mr. Patton attended Kaplan University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1986 and was Honorably Discharged in 1993 after participating in various operations within the continental United States, Honduras, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. He has worked in a variety of different fields to include; Security, Apartment Management, and Mental Health, all at which he served as a supervisor and/or trainer.
Mr. Patton began working in the correctional field in 2001 as a Correctional Officer I with the Sam Perdue Juvenile Center (formerly, Southern Regional Juvenile Detention Center). In 2003, he was promoted to Corporal and later (2007) became a Correctional Trainer for the Division, serving as the Southern Region Correctional Trainer.  He served as Director of the Mercer County Youth Reporting Center until October 2012 and is currently the Director for the Sam Perdue Juvenile Center.
